• A Day at Chilton House

Join us for an immersive experience in Old Town Warrenton.

    Before you Arrive

When you reserve a room at Chilton House by phone or online (the best rates are always on our website) your “Chilton House Experience” can begin even before your scheduled arrival.

Our in-residence innkeeper, James Blunt, will happily answer your call or respond to your email asking for information on what to do in and around our location in the heart of the historic district of Old Town Warrenton. He can suggest a stop at one of Fauquier County’s scores of wineries, cideries, and even a micro-batch distillery, all within 20-30 minutes from Warrenton. Guests appreciate that they can leave their car parked here and walk to and from a night out on the town.

    Arriving at Chilton House

When arriving at Chilton House you'll park in our driveway, or right on Culpeper Street where parking is free, unlimited, and secure.

When you enter Chilton House you will be greeted warmly by James and brought into the library where a spot of sherry or cold water is yours for the asking. The library and adjacent parlor are part of the original 4-story house built in 1820. We want guests to feel immediately “at home.” These two adjoining, spacious rooms are filled with fine antique furniture and furnishings, original polished wood floors, hand-carved fireplace mantels, original door hardware, 18-foot high ceilings, and 6 tall, sun-filled windows with 108 panes of rare 1820 hand-blown crown glass.

    Take A Tour

Our innkeeper will give you a tour through the 3-story wing that the family added in 1930. He will show the guest pantry where you can help yourself to chilled water, ice, a microwave and cupboards with mugs and adult beverage glasses of all types. He’ll point out the powder room and kitchen and then show you around the dining room where he’ll serve a 2-course, from scratch breakfast from around 8:30 to 10:00. From the main floor you’ll follow James upstairs to the second story where the four guest rooms are located, two in the 1820 wing (Blackwell and McDonnell) and two in the 1930 wing (Hearst and Horner).

    Enjoy Dinner in Old Town

Make a reservation with our innkeeper at one of the delicious old town restaurants, or take a short drive to Marshall, and up-and-coming foodie town. Take a walk around Old Town after dinner and enjoy the 1800's style promenades and streets. When you come back, you'll be coming home to a cozy library with port or sherry. Head to your room for a relaxing evening, or wander out to the garden, where a hand-built outdoor firepit awaits you.

    A Perfect Night's Rest

Our innkeeper lives on site and is available to attend to any and all of your needs. His goal is make sure you have a perfect night's rest. Each room has water, and a kuerig for those who can't get out of bed without their first cup of coffee.

Wake Up and Smell the Bacon

In the morning, you'll come downstairs at your leisure for a delicious breakfast with home-made "Chilnola" a house brand granola speciality, bacon, french toast, or anything else our innkeeper has dreamed up for you while you were in dreamland. After breakfast, head for an early morning stroll on the Greenway Trail, or get ready for a busy day!

    Explore Fauquier County

Well-fed and rested, you'll journey out into the beautiful hills of Fauquier County for a winery tour, a mountain hike in Shenandoah National Park, or a casual afternoon on one of Fauquier's stunning lakes. Take an emotional tour of a Civil War Battlefield, or spend your day antiquing. If you can't imagine leaving Chilton House, spend the day in the hammock in the gardens with a good book.
